HEY THERE!

I’m Matthew Wheeler, an avid video editor, content creator and weather enthusiast. I grew up in Sarasota, Florida, while also spending my childhood years in Woodstock, Georgia, now currently just outside the Saint Augustine, Florida area. I currently have two YouTube channels, my own personal channel, of which I post newsworthy content, and Hurricane Intercept, a channel filled with a mish-mash of viral-worthy content and whatever may comes to mind. During my free time, I spend it mostly consuming YouTube content or researching random, various topics on Wikipedia. I also take time to go out, and if I can, explore what the world has to show for it. One of my bucket list items that I’d like to fulfill in life is to visit every highest point in the United States, plus each continent’s highest point, and yes, I’d even take a trip to the edge of space, the International Space Station, or even the Moon! I currently use Movavi to edit videos, but would use Premiere Pro if it wasn’t so expensive!

videos i’ve edited:

Patrick Takes NYC” features my brother and his classmates visiting New York City in 2017. These video files sat dormant until I decided in the summer of 2025 to take time and put it together. This video is a perfect example of the type of content I personally enjoy and like to put together.

The “FGCU Civic Engagement Film” features myself and my fellow classmates, who were tasked in 2019 to spend time at a local non-profit business and work alongside them to volunteer and assist for multiple weeks during the school year. I had total creative control of how the video was presented.

The “Decade In Review” video was a fun, random video I made a few years back, commemorating my original “Year In Review” video I made in 2013. This features throwbacks, past events that had happened over the last 10 years, and various editing tricks I decided to do for the first time. This shows that, in my free time, I still make content!

During my years at Florida Gulf Coast University, I was tasked in my “Persuasion and Propaganda” class to create a minute and a half video about a self-made product and to persuade others to buy said product. That product for me was the “Wheel-VR”.

videos i’ve been featured in:

In preparation for the big game, I, along with my associates, huddle up to hear from Coach Geoff on what are plans are to have a smooth, but eventful, day at Detwiler’s! This was genuinely a fun video to be a part of, and even got my own line! What an honor!

I also spent some time on their ranch, deep inside Sarasota County, participating in Spring Picnics and Christmas Parties. Much like the “Big Game”, I enjoyed partaking in these events and attempting to win prizes along the way. These were such great people to be around and was so much fun! Yes, I am in each video, having a blast!

Producing:

Along with editing for newscasts and at my own leisure, I have also produced newscasts for WWSB-TV in Sarasota during my tenure there. In this video, I give you an inside look as to what a typical 5AM newscast was like with me in the captain’s chair, which usually was a breeze unless breaking news warranted, which during that time of day (or night), was pretty rare.
